Mexicali and Imperial County signed an agreement that will mark the beginning of cooperation between both entities moving forward.
Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and District 2 Supervisor Luis A. Plancarte joined with Presidente Municipal de Mexicali, Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for Strengthening Cooperation Between the City of Mexicali and the County of Imperial.
The agreement states both administrations will work in cooperation to unite mutual interests and opportunities for economic development and commerce, culture, environmental protection, tourism, science and technology, agriculture and agricultural technology, education, public health, sports, and social assistance.
Chairman Plancarte stated, “Looking into the future, I am hopeful the collaborative partnership developed here between our two governments of this unique international region will continue to expand for the betterment of our communities.”
The agreement provides the legal framework to develop programs, strengthen communication efforts, and the avenue to exchange experiences and completion of common activities in those areas of mutual interest.
Imperial County and Mexicali have been in communication during the pandemic and share information that is vital for both communities.
