Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda to Lead Binational Tianguis Turístico 2025 in Baja California

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, received from the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, the commission to carry out the Tianguis Turístico 2025, the most important tourist event in Mexico that will be binational for the first time, bringing together representatives of the tourism sector from both sides of the border.

With the presence at the official ceremony of the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, the Baja Californian governor recognized the people of Guerrero and especially the municipality of Acapulco, for facing Hurricane Otis in October 2023, one of the largest natural disasters in recent history.

“For Baja Californians, it is a pride and a great responsibility to receive this award and to do so right here, in the port of Acapulco, without a doubt the reference point in Mexico when we talk about great tourism in our country,” she said.

She thanked the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, for the support he has given to Baja California through the Ministry of Tourism since this practice is an engine of economic development and a source of social well-being for thousands of Baja California families.

She also said that Baja California had recovered the flow of tourists before the COVID-19 pandemic, registering a growth of 3.3% in the flow of American tourists in 2023, which added more than 12 million visitors in that year. Additionally, a notable 45% increase in the number of Canadian visitors was reported.

“We believe that this Tourist Market will be decisive in impacting markets whose flow of visitors to our entity is growing, such as Far Eastern countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Singapore,” she stated and reiterated diversity as one of the greatest characteristics and attractions. of the border state.

The head of the Executive Branch of the State of Baja California listed notable attractions such as the Valle de Guadalupe, capital of Mexican wine, craft beer, Chinese food in the city of Mexicali, the creativity of groups such as Takón Machine and Nortec, tourist tours by La Chinesca de Mexicali, among others.

For his part, Salgado Pineda highlighted the permanent collaboration that exists with the Government of Baja California and the governor Marina del Pilar and pointed out the resurgence of Acapulco with the passage of the hurricane at the same time that he thanked the support of the Government of Mexico represented by Torruco Marquis.

The governor of Guerrero explained that in the Tianguis Turístico 2024, the 48th edition, there is the participation of more than 43 countries, more than 1,900 exhibitors from the 32 states, and 786 companies that offer the tourist variety of Guerrero and the rest of the country.

“I congratulate our beloved governor Marina del Pilar, I do not doubt the enormous benefits that Baja California has to offer to all visitors to Mexico and the world,” she expressed.

Secretary Torruco Marqués commented that it was the first time that the Tianguis Turístico would take place on the northern border of Mexico. At the same time, it recognized the work of the Guerrero government to carry out an event of high magnitude, for being the most relevant Mexican tourist activity, so, notably, the Selection Committee has chosen Baja California as the venue for the Tianguis, which will take place between April 28 and May 1, 2025.

The federal official indicated that the Tijuana “Abelardo L. Rodríguez” International Airport stands out for its high and growing connectivity that already reaches 40 airport facilities in the national territory, and put on the table that “the aerial dynamics of Baja California are reflected with the 45,681 flights registered last year, which surpassed 2022 with more than 7.6 million passengers.

Gloria Garza, wife of the Secretary of Tourism Miguel Torruco, was present at the event; Abelina López, municipal president of Acapulco; Santos Ramírez Cuevas, Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero and Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism of Baja California, who presented a campaign to promote craft beer that is produced at the state level as a product that drives more visits to the entity.
