Before an estimated attendance of more than 45 thousand people who gathered in the Plaza de los Tres Poderes of the Civic Center of Mexicali, the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, led the official ceremony of the Cry of Independence as part of the Fiestas Patrias 2023, which commemorates the 213th anniversary of the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence.
The state leader highlighted the value of Mexicali residents in a border state and stressed that the pride of being Mexican men and women unites all families regardless of their beliefs or political or ideological affiliations, for which she thanked the presence of the thousands of people who joined the celebrations.
Likewise, she highlighted the coordination between the XXIV City Council of Mexicali and the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Baja California (SSCBC) to guarantee safe celebrations free of all forms of violence, for the well-being of all the families that participated in the popular festival, in the official protocol and the concert by the band El Recodo de Don Cruz Lizárraga which enlivened the celebrations.
As part of the celebration, there were Mexican food, music, and other elements that make up the popular festival, in which the attendees were able to enjoy a family event that reaffirmed the values and pride of the Mexican people and showed the strength in Baja California as a border state.
