2nd Imperial County Arts Festival: Showcasing Creative Brilliance and Academic Excellence

-Editorial

The Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE) is gearing up for its highly anticipated 2nd Annual Imperial County Arts Festival, scheduled for Thursday, May 2nd, 2024. Set to take place at the Imperial County Office of Education Administrative Conference Center (Building E) located at 4202 Sperber Road, El Centro, CA, this event promises to be a celebration of artistic excellence.

The festival will feature the creative works of 64 students from grades 6 through 12, representing eight schools across Imperial County. Attendees will have the opportunity to admire a diverse range of artistic mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and digital art.

The highlight of the Arts Festival will be the awards ceremony, commencing at 6:00 pm, where outstanding pieces in each category will be recognized. Students and their families are invited to join in this moment of celebration.

Following the festival, the public will have the chance to view the student submissions during an exhibition on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity for the community to appreciate the talent and creativity of Imperial County’s youth.

In addition to recognizing student achievement, the Foundation for Education will select 15 artworks from the Arts Festival to be showcased at its annual Autumn & the Arts Fundraiser on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. Proceeds from the auction of these select pieces will go towards scholarships, benefiting aspiring student artists.

The Arts Festival is just one of the many academic events hosted by ICOE throughout the year. Following the festival, ICOE will host the Annual Math Competition on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024. Middle and junior high school students from nine schools across the county will put their problem-solving skills to the test in various math tasks and content quizzes.

Vicente Ortiz, Student Events Manager at the Imperial County Office of Education, expressed gratitude to all participants, educators, judges, and supporters for their contributions in making these student events possible.
