The National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, together with its state and local member programs, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can be safe, have a permanent home and the opportunity to thrive.
The National CASA Association and their network of nearly 1,000 local community programs support volunteers serving children. The role of local CASA programs is to recruit, train and support these volunteers in their work with abused children.
Role of the National CASA Association: The National CASA Association offers critical leadership and support to provide quality advocacy and leads the continued growth of the CASA network.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Imperial County has had a long standing commitment of advocating for abused and neglected children in the juvenile dependency system. A CASA is a trained volunteer who is appointed by a judge to provide one-on-one advocacy for a child who is under the jurisdiction of the courts owing to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. CASA Volunteers spend time with children, ensure that court-ordered services are provided, attend court hearings for children to which they are assigned, and provide child-focused recommendations to the court based on the best interest of the children they serve.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates of Imperial County (CASA) Program is established to advocate for abused/neglected children in the Juvenile Court process. Through the use of highly trained volunteers, CASA is committed to providing all at-risk children with a voice in the Court process.
How CASA Helps Our Community?
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) provide a voice for children in court.
- The children have become involved with the court system through no fault of their own.
- Trained CASA volunteers work with all parties involved on behalf of their clients: the children to which they are assigned.
- Volunteers go to court & provide reports for the judge telling him what they believe would be the best interests of their clients – THE CHILDREN OF IMPERIAL COUNTY
CASA Advocates are sworn in by a judge and CASA is the only 501(c)3 non-profit organization in the US recognized by the courts.
The impact of CASA volunteers in the lives of neglected and abused children who are in the foster home system, has resulted in many lives positively changed!
