CETYS Celebrates a Year of Achievements with Spotlight on Successful Programs

CETYS University held a press conference on Jan. 22nd to showcase the achievements of the past year. Led by Dr. Fernando Leon Garcia, Rector of CETYS University System, the event provided an opportunity to show the university’s milestones and groundbreaking initiatives.

During the press conference, Dr. Leon Garcia highlighted the university’s numerous accomplishments, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to fostering an environment of excellence in education and research. 

Furthermore, Dr. Leon Garcia highlighted the university’s successful collaborations with industry partners, resulting in impactful projects that enhance regional development. CETYS University provides transformative experiences for its students. 

In March 2023, the School of Engineering of this campus hosted a rapprochement visit in which representatives of Tesla Motors, and Silicon Valley residents were received, derived from the rapprochement between the School of Engineering and Tesla Motors, Eduardo Armenta found the necessary motivation to apply for an internship at the automotive company, which he was admitted to during the spring.

Dr. Victoria González Gutiérrez, professor at the College of Administration and Business at CETYS University, was appointed president of the Latin American and Caribbean Chapter of PRME, (Principles for Responsible Management Education), of the United Nations (UN). PRME is a learning community whose central purpose is to share best practices in education, research, and highly responsible leadership processes, with global observance.

At the postgraduate level, Dr. Mónica López Sieben was elected as president of the Latin American Council of Schools of Administration (CLADEA) for the period October 2022-October 2025. Her disruptive and international approach will strengthen the global vision of that network.

CETYS University’s educational offering remains at the forefront. The Virtual Campus now offers a Master’s Degree in Socio-educational Intervention, a Master’s Degree in Innovation and Operational Excellence, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, which will be joined in 2024 by a Doctorate in Education.

By 2023, 70% of CETYS University graduates had some international experience, mainly in the United States, Spain, and Colombia. In terms of sustainability, CETYS was the only institution in the northwest of Mexico to be part of the Ul GreenMetric Ranking, 6th among private universities, 11th in Mexico, 41st in Latin America, and 303rd in the world. In 2024 CETYS University and a select group of its teachers will participate in WDC 2024 as leaders of various Initiatives, events, and projects.

CETYS will have a visit from Nadia Murad, Nobel Peace Prize winner, and in sports, they will have the CONADEIP National Youth C Women’s Basketball Championship and CONADEIP National Youth C Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Championship.

Ten years ago there was an agreement signed between Imperial Valley College and CETYS University in Mexicali. The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 21, 2014, aiming to encourage the development of exchange programs for students and faculty, along with creating transfer agreements or degree completion programs for IVC students.

Dr. Leon said that this agreement has faced several setbacks due to the pandemic and changes in IVC’s administration. However, both institutions are talking again and are working to restart this partnership. 

“We are looking at more dynamic formulas that not only include transferring students but creating joint programs that students can take on both campuses,” Dr. Leon said and added that Dr. Lennor M. Johnson, President/Superintendent of IVC, and his team have met with CETYS staff and are finalizing a new, well-defined agreement that will improve this partnership.
