The Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry Baja California (CMIC) and Imagen Radio will host its second annual Construction and Housing Expo on Oct. 23-24 at the Museo Sol del Niño, bringing together industry professionals, suppliers, and the general public for two days of exhibitions, conferences, and cultural events.
Eduardo Salazar Ley, president of CMIC Baja California, said the expo is designed to appeal not only to construction and housing professionals but also to the broader community, including visitors from the Imperial Valley and San Diego.
“This is not an event only for the city of Mexicali,” Salazar Ley said. “It is open to the general public of all ages and backgrounds. People from the United States, such as those from Imperial Valley and Calexico, can come because they will find suppliers for construction, housing, workplace improvements, decoration, and even contractors for their homes.”
The event will feature exhibitors from across the construction and housing sectors, a gastronomic pavilion organized in partnership with the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC), and a cultural program including performances by Grupo Nebula. Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the recently renovated facilities and gardens of the Museo Sol del Niño.
Carolina Lorenzo, director and producer of Nébula Proyecto Artístico, said the institution is working to strengthen ties with businesses and the community.
“We want to create networks with companies so they can see that the Sol del Niño is not only for cultural growth but also for industrial growth,” Lorenzo said. “As a private nonprofit, we rely on support and networks to share the love, passion, and needs of children while covering cultural, educational, and artistic areas. Yesterday we celebrated our 27th anniversary, and we are very happy to continue progressing. We hope the community will visit the museum again and reconnect with this space.”
Alan Diego Valenzuela, president of CANIRAC Mexicali, said the expo’s new gastronomic pavilion is designed to showcase local flavors while supporting business connections.
“We want to pamper both the public and the construction professionals who attend the event,” Valenzuela said. “There will be carne asada, ribs, hamburgers, aguachiles, and dishes from iconic Mexicali restaurants so people can enjoy themselves while closing negotiations. This collaboration reflects our shared vision for Mexicali’s business and social development.”
