The Soles de Mexicali basketball team received a spiritual send-off for the upcoming 2025 Liga Caliente.Mx LNBP season during a special blessing ceremony held at San José Obrero Parish in the Bella Vista neighborhood.
Players, coaches, and team officials gathered alongside fans and parishioners as Father Francisco Herrejón led the religious service. Herrejón, visibly moved, shared words of encouragement with the team, urging them to commit to hard work and discipline.
“Place this season in God’s hands, and He will take care of it,” Herrejón said. “But to reach the end of the road, you must carry the cross — that means working with sacrifice and discipline.” Herrejón has a personal history with the team, supporting the organization in his youth.
Players Luke Martínez, Donald Sims, Brandon McCoy, and Víctor Álvarez were among those present, along with head coach Silvio José Santander and assistant coach Fabricio Salas.
The team is set to travel to Cancún on Tuesday to participate in a preseason tournament before returning to prepare for their season opener on Thursday, July 3, at home against the Halcones de Xalapa at the PSF Auditorium.
