Oktoberfest Mexicali 2025 to Celebrate German Tradition with Local Flavor

-Editorial

October 1st marks a long-standing German tradition, a celebration of community, culture, and, of course, beer. Inspired by this festive spirit, three of Mexicali’s leading local breweries—Amante Brew Company, Cervecería Ícono, and Cervecería Averno—have come together to create Oktoberfest Mexicali 2025.

The event aims not only to honor Germany’s iconic beer heritage but also to showcase the skill, creativity, and quality of Mexicali’s local brewers. By blending tradition with local flavor, the breweries invite residents and visitors alike to experience firsthand why Mexicali’s craft beer scene is among the best.

Now in its second edition, the festival aims to promote local craft beer culture by blending German brewing traditions with the distinctive “cachanilla” spirit of Mexicali. Organizers describe the event as a celebration of friendship, community, and quality beer under the theme “German tradition with a cachanilla flavor.”

“So the idea of this event is to take that concept and make it our own, because that’s exactly the capability we want to showcase as local brewers—the ability to organize an event like this without needing to bring in imported beer,” said Roberto Cuenca, Director of Cerveceria Averno. “Instead, we want to promote local consumption, showing that the beer we produce here can meet the standards of German beer. We want to prove that it’s possible to produce locally, keep the money here, encourage more investment, and every time events like this happen, it strengthens the local brewing scene.”

Attendees will have the chance to sample traditional German-style beers brewed locally, including Festbier, Munich Helles, German Pilsner, and Radler. Additional drink options such as lemonade seltzers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.

The culinary lineup will feature a variety of local food vendors offering artisanal pizzas, tacos, smoked meats, and hamburgers to complement the beer selections.

“This is about the tradition of local beer—its production, its consumption, and everything that comes with creating a new wave of craft brewing in our city,” said Héctor Corella, director of Amante Brew Company. “With this brewer’s union, we’re starting something bigger. Each of the three participating breweries represents Mexicali, and local beer isn’t just about making a product and waiting for customers. It’s about creating a movement. Our goal is to promote moderate consumption, support the community, and involve local organizations and charities, so the culture of beer benefits everyone.”

General admission tickets are priced at 450 pesos and include entry to the event. The first 400 general ticket holders to arrive will receive a souvenir beer mug. Guests arriving between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. will also receive a complimentary beer. VIP tickets, priced at 650 pesos, include access to a private seating area near the stage, table service, private restrooms, a guaranteed souvenir mug, and priority seating.

Live music will be provided by local bands No-C, Los Piss Stones, and La Destronchadora. Between performances, attendees can participate in interactive contests such as a malt sack race, stein-holding competition, and a costume contest for the best 10 outfits. The festivities will be hosted by “El Tavernero” (Roberto Cuenca).

Organizers said the event will feature themed decorations inspired by German culture, combined with local elements, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrates community pride.

“The local and state governments have been incredibly supportive of us as brewers,” said Óscar Rodríguez, director of Cervecería Ícono. “We are a completely community-focused union, not a political one, and building that sense of society and community requires government support. We’ve reached out to offices like the Secretariat of Tourism and the Secretariat of Economy, and they’ve welcomed us wholeheartedly. They recognize that local beer is a symbol of Mexicali, and our role as a brewers’ union is to engage the community, encourage people to enjoy local beer, and show everyone what we’ve prepared for October 25.”

Oktoberfest Mexicali 2025 is sponsored by Baja Creativa, Maltería Mexicana Altiplano, Casa Cervecera Hijos del Sol, Smart Print, and Perfect Event. Tickets are available at participating breweries and through social media channels.
