CFE Opens Service Stations in Mexicali to Address Electricity Billing Complaints

Special service stations have been established at Mexicali City Hall to assist residents with concerns about high electricity bills, billing discrepancies, and other issues involving electric service, the Baja California government announced Friday.

The stations were established following coordination between the administration of Baja California Gov. Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda and Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission, known as CFE, after residents reported concerns about their electricity bills.

According to the state government, CFE personnel will be available to review individual cases and provide residents with information about possible billing clarifications or additional steps needed to address their concerns.

Avila Olmeda said her administration contacted the federal utility after receiving numerous complaints from residents.

“We have been receiving many complaints from residents, and because of that, I have maintained ongoing communication with the CFE,” Avila Olmeda said. She said the utility authorized the establishment of the service stations so customers could receive in-person assistance at Mexicali City Hall.

The stations began operating Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are expected to remain available throughout next week, according to the state government.

Residents may bring their concerns directly to CFE representatives, who can review billing cases and refer matters requiring additional clarification or intervention to the appropriate department within the utility.

The announcement comes as electricity costs remain a concern for some Mexicali residents, particularly during the summer months, when high temperatures increase household demand for air conditioning and electricity.

Avila Olmeda also credited Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration with supporting coordination between state and federal officials on electricity-related concerns.

The state government said the temporary service stations are intended to provide Mexicali residents with a direct avenue to seek clarification about their electricity bills and receive information about how their cases will be handled.
