Imperial County Seeks Applicants for Data Center Advisory Committee

The Imperial County Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants to serve on a newly established Data Center Advisory Committee that will provide recommendations on potential land use and zoning options related to data center development in the county’s unincorporated areas.

According to county officials, the committee will serve in an advisory role and offer input to the Board of Supervisors as it considers issues related to future data center projects. Final decisions regarding land use policies and zoning matters will remain with the board.

The 19-member committee is intended to include representatives from local government, community organizations, industry sectors, and other stakeholder groups.

Membership will consist of two members of the Board of Supervisors; seven representatives appointed by Imperial County’s incorporated cities, with one appointment from each city; one representative from a local government entity that is not an incorporated city; two representatives of community interests; one representative with environmental expertise; one representative from organized labor; one representative from the health care community; one representative from the education community; one representative from a nonprofit organization; one representative from the business community; and one representative from the energy industry.

Individuals interested in serving on the committee may obtain an application through the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors’ Office at 940 W. Main St., Suite 209, in El Centro, by calling 442-265-1020, or through the clerk’s website.

Completed applications must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board’s Office by 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2. Applications may also be submitted by email to cynthiamedina@co.imperial.ca.us
