First “Padelton” Tournament to Benefit CRIT Baja California Arrives in Tijuana

-Editorial

Tijuana will host the first-ever “Padelton” charity padel tournament on September 6, 2025, at Flou Pádel in Zona Río. The event will bring together more than 120 players in a day-long effort to support children and youth receiving services from the Teletón Children’s Rehabilitation and Inclusion Center (CRIT) Baja California.

This inaugural tournament aims to combine sports, community, and solidarity, inviting the public to enjoy a day of competition, live music, family-friendly activities, and special surprises. The initiative is part of a nationwide challenge to organize similar tournaments across Mexico.

“All proceeds will go directly to support CRIT’s comprehensive rehabilitation programs. It’s a great opportunity to unite as a society for a noble cause,” said Julio Paz, Director of CRIT Baja California.

The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue throughout the day with matches in three men’s categories. In addition to the games, attendees will enjoy raffles, prize ceremonies, a food court featuring crocodile tasting by Chef Christian Noriega, and information booths focused on inclusion and disability awareness.

Among those present at the event announcement were Sergio Alegre, director of Flou Pádel and host of the tournament; Priscilla Archuleta, director of 4/15 Cooperativa; Mike Camarena of MC Mezcal; José Alberto Peregrino, director of Fundación Acacia; and chef Christian Noriega. Representing HJM in the absence of Marco Pérez was Heidi Gómez.

CRIT Baja California currently serves more than 1,800 families throughout the state and continues to be a symbol of science, love, and hope for those in need.

The Padelton offers a fresh and energetic way to support CRIT’s mission, showing how sport can drive meaningful social change.

CRIT is a specialized medical center dedicated to providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to children and adolescents with disabilities. It offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychological support, speech therapy, and specialized medical care, all aimed at improving the quality of life and promoting the inclusion of children with neuromusculoskeletal and neurodevelopmental conditions. CRIT Baja California serves over 1,800 families from across the state, working in partnership with communities and public institutions to ensure accessible, high-quality care regardless of socioeconomic background.

In recent years, padel has experienced significant growth in Baja California, emerging as one of the region’s fastest-growing sports. With its accessibility, social appeal, and fast-paced gameplay, padel has attracted a diverse following across age groups and fitness levels. The development of new courts, clubs like Flou Pádel in Tijuana and Palestra in Mexicali, and the organization of regional tournaments have contributed to a strong and expanding padel community.

The event will take place on September 6, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flou Pádel Tijuana, located in Zona Río.
