Date Route Committee Officially Formed in Ahumadita

-Editorial

The first official organizing committee for the Ruta del Dátil (Date Route) in the Ahumadita region has been formally established, with the presence of representatives from COTUCO (Municipal Tourism Committee) and SECTURE (State Secretariat of Tourism). This formalization aims to provide the group with official representation before governmental agencies.

The newly established committee comprises Ing. Natividad Jaime as the Coordinator, Antonio Jaramillo as the Secretary, and Rosario González as the Treasurer.

Additional members interested in contributing to the project will be added over time. The committee’s main objectives include representing the local community, offering training for participants and personnel, securing funding with transparency, and coordinating improvements such as signage along the route, safety measures, road cleaning, and maintenance—all through formal requests to relevant government departments.

Promotion and dissemination of activities related to the circuit will also be part of the committee’s responsibilities.

During the meeting, COTUCO Director María de los Ángeles Murillo highlighted the significance of this newly formed committee, calling it a pioneering group for this type of local tourism initiative.

Participants emphasized the importance of including other agricultural producers and local businesses in the circuit to enhance activities and bring broader benefits to the community.

The Progreso Neighborhood’s Casa de la Cultura joined the initiative by offering its facilities for future meetings. Additionally, a construction company from the Ahumadita area pledged its support to the project.
