The government of Baja California unveiled a new tourism campaign, “Baja California Es Para Ti” (Baja California Is for You), an initiative designed to promote the state’s cultural heritage, natural landscapes, gastronomy and community-centered experiences to domestic and international visitors.
The campaign was presented during an event in Mexico City led by Baja California Gov. Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda and Mexico Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora. Representatives from the tourism, hospitality, culinary, cultural, and business sectors attended the launch.
The strategy seeks to showcase the diversity of experiences available throughout Baja California, emphasizing the region’s natural resources, agricultural production, culinary traditions, wine industry and coastal attractions. The campaign’s message centers on the idea that visitors experience the state in different ways, depending on their interests and connections with its communities, landscapes and cultural offerings.
During her remarks, Avila Olmeda highlighted the contributions of local producers, fishermen, farmers, chefs and community members whose work helps shape the state’s tourism identity. Officials said the campaign aims to promote tourism experiences rooted in the region’s natural and cultural assets while encouraging broader access to those experiences.
As part of the presentation, representatives from the Pai Pai, Kumiai, Cochimí and Cucapah Indigenous communities participated in a ceremony titled “Armonización de los Pueblos” (Harmonization of the Peoples), which recognized the role of Indigenous cultures in the history and identity of Baja California. Organizers said the event was intended to highlight the state’s cultural diversity and ancestral traditions that continue to influence it.
The launch also featured the premiere of the campaign’s principal promotional video. The advertisement includes a new acoustic version of the song “Eres Para Mí,” performed by Tijuana-born singer-songwriter Julieta Venegas. According to organizers, the musical adaptation was created specifically for the tourism initiative and is intended to accompany a narrative that presents Baja California as a destination characterized by cultural diversity, hospitality, and a variety of visitor experiences.
The event additionally included a culinary exhibition featuring chefs and culinary professionals associated with Baja California’s food and beverage sector. Participants shared dishes and products representative of the state’s gastronomic traditions, which have helped establish Baja California as a recognized culinary destination in Mexico and abroad.
Among those participating in the showcase were chefs Javier Plascencia, Marcelo Hisaki, Drew Deckman, Paulina Deckman, Miguel Ángel Guerrero, Benito Molina, Solange Muris, Ruffo Ibarra, Adriana Montaño, Janina Garay, Ángel Beltrán and Giannina Gavaldón. They were joined by sommelier Judith Medrano and brewmaster Eugenio Romero. Musical entertainment for the event was provided by Baja California DJ Fabricio Zamora.
Rodríguez Zamora said Baja California’s culinary reputation is closely tied to the state’s agricultural lands, fishing industry, vineyards, wineries and craft brewing sector. She noted that these industries contribute significantly to the tourism experiences available throughout the region.
Baja California Tourism Secretary Miguel Ángel Badiola Montaño said the campaign seeks to communicate the state’s diversity and hospitality while encouraging visitors to explore its cities, rural communities and natural attractions.
Tourism officials said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Baja California’s tourism sector and increase awareness of the state’s attractions. Baja California has gained national and international recognition in recent years for its wine production, culinary scene, outdoor recreation opportunities, and cultural offerings.
The state is home to the Guadalupe Valley wine region, extensive Pacific Ocean and Gulf of California coastlines, desert landscapes, mountain ranges, and a growing tourism industry that attracts visitors from Mexico, the United States, and other countries.
Officials said the “Baja California Es Para Ti” campaign will be used in promotional efforts aimed at expanding tourism opportunities and reinforcing the state’s position as one of Mexico’s leading travel destinations.
