- An Estimated 12% Reduction in Electricity Bills to Take Effect Over Four Summer Months
IMPERIAL, CA – Imperial Irrigation District (IID) power customers will begin receiving summer bill credits as part of a $48.4 million relief effort aimed at helping reduce electricity costs during the hottest months of the year.
The credits are expected to lower customer electric bills by approximately 12 percent and will automatically appear on monthly bills from July through October for energy used between June and September. Customers do not need to apply or take any action to receive the benefit.
As temperatures rise throughout the Imperial and Coachella Valleys, the bill credits are designed to provide financial relief during the period when electricity usage is typically at its highest.
“Providing affordable and reliable energy remains one of IID’s highest priorities,” said IID Board Chairwoman Karin Eugenio. “These bill credits deliver meaningful savings directly to our customers and reflect our commitment to returning value to the communities we serve.”
The credits are funded by lower-than-anticipated fuel and purchased power costs in 2025, allowing IID to return those savings directly to customers.
“This is about returning value to our customers while continuing to maintain the reliable electric service our communities depend on,” said IID General Manager Jamie Asbury.
The summer bill credits are part of IID’s ongoing commitment to maintaining affordable electricity rates, ensuring reliable service, and supporting customers throughout its service area.
