Naval Air Facility El Centro (NAFEC) announced that Marco Bejarano of El Centro is the winner of the 2026 NAF El Centro Airshow poster contest. His design was chosen from a pool of submissions and will serve as the official artwork for the upcoming airshow.
Bejarano’s design will be featured on the NAF El Centro Airshow website, social media channels, and other promotional materials. The artwork is intended to highlight the excitement of the annual event, which draws thousands of visitors to the Imperial Valley each year
“We are thrilled with the level of talent and creativity we saw in the poster submissions,” said Capt. Ryan Carstens, commanding officer of NAF El Centro. “Mr. Bejarano’s design truly captures the excitement and spirit of the NAF El Centro Airshow. We are proud to have his artwork represent this year’s event.”
NAF El Centro has been a fixture in the Imperial Valley since its commissioning in 1946. The facility serves as a training ground for both active and reserve naval aviators and is the winter home of the U.S. Navy’s elite flight demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels. The annual airshow provides an opportunity for the public to witness the skill, precision, and teamwork of both military and civilian performers and has become a highlight for the local community.
The airshow also serves as a chance for residents and visitors to engage with the Navy, learn about aviation careers, and experience demonstrations of modern aircraft and technology. The event typically includes performances by the Blue Angels, civilian aerobatic teams, and static displays, offering a mix of entertainment and educational opportunities.
The IID has emphasized that events like the airshow contribute to local tourism and economy by attracting visitors who frequent hotels, restaurants, and other businesses in the region. While NAF El Centro is primarily a military training installation, the airshow serves as a bridge between the base and the Imperial Valley community, showcasing the role of naval aviation in national defense while providing a public celebration.
