The 2026 Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride took place Saturday, Oct. 24, bringing together cyclists for a 76-kilometer (47-mile) journey along the Pacific Ocean coast to support five children and teenagers undergoing cancer treatment through the Castro-Limón Foundation.

The event began at the Rosarito Beach Hotel and took participants along the scenic coastal highway to the Coral & Marina Hotel in Ensenada, combining a physical challenge with one of Baja California’s most recognizable coastal landscapes.

Iván González, director of the Castro-Limón Foundation, emphasized that the primary purpose of the ride was to support Dylan, from Tijuana; Heden, from Ensenada; Ashley, from Mexicali; Emiliano, from Tecate; and Danna, from Rosarito, the five patients selected as beneficiaries of this year’s event.

González said the 76-kilometer journey represented a cause extending beyond the sporting challenge, as cyclists’ participation helps ensure that children and teenagers battling cancer can continue receiving medical care and support throughout their treatments.

He highlighted that activities such as the bike ride encourage community involvement through sports while bringing together individuals and organizations to assist families from different municipalities across Baja California affected by the disease.

At the conclusion of the ride, González explained, the Coral & Marina Hotel became a gathering place for cyclists, families, sponsors and attendees, who participated in a celebration featuring live music by Grupo Melody and various recreational activities.

He also noted that awards were presented to participants in the Elite and General categories, along with a special prize for the best costume.

Among the special guests were José del Toro, father of Ensenada-born professional cyclist Isaac del Toro, and Mexican musician Jay de la Cueva, who participated in an autograph-signing session.

González also acknowledged the coordinated efforts of government authorities, law enforcement agencies, volunteers, sponsors and community partners who made the event possible, as well as those who assisted with logistics along the route between Rosarito and Ensenada.

He thanked residents of both municipalities for their understanding and cooperation regarding temporary traffic disruptions caused by the event, which were necessary to accommodate the cycling activities.

González concluded by emphasizing that the Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride seeks to demonstrate how each participant’s contribution can extend beyond the finish line, transforming the physical effort of cycling into support and hope for children and teenagers facing cancer.
