The Mexicali Tourism and Conventions Committee participated in tourism, gastronomy, and corporate travel promotional activities in Mexico City on Aug. 20 as part of an effort to promote the city to the national tourism and business market.
The initiative was carried out in coordination with Baja California’s Secretariat of Tourism and the state’s Public Trust for Tourism Promotion, along with members of the state’s tourism industry. The effort focused on strengthening the competitiveness of Baja California municipalities and expanding their presence in the domestic market.
A destination presentation was held for more than 80 travel agencies and qualified buyers in Mexico City. Representatives presented information about Mexicali’s attractions, infrastructure, and tourism-related services, with the goal of connecting local offerings with travel industry professionals.
The activities emphasized meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions, or MICE tourism. The committee promoted Mexicali’s hotel accommodations, specialized venues, and transportation connectivity as options for corporate, commercial, and industrial events.
The promotional program also included networking sessions and direct meetings with tourism industry professionals. Organizers sought to establish relationships that could help participating travel agencies include Mexicali tourism products and services in their sales portfolios.
Gastronomy and culture were also part of the promotion. Representatives highlighted the city’s culinary offerings and signature local products as elements of Mexicali’s tourism identity.
The work sessions took place at the Mondrian Mexico City Condesa hotel, where representatives of the Mexicali Tourism and Conventions Committee met with tourism industry professionals to develop business relationships and promote the city’s visitor services.
The committee said the meetings were aimed at increasing visitor traffic and tourism-related economic activity benefiting hotels, restaurants and other local service businesses.
The Mexico City activities were part of broader coordination between Mexicali tourism representatives, state authorities and private-sector members of Baja California’s tourism industry.
The promotion focused on positioning Mexicali as a destination for both leisure and business travel, while highlighting its infrastructure, connectivity, cultural and culinary offerings, and capacity to host meetings and other events.
