Majo Aguilar and MXKA to Perform Anthems at NFL Mexico City Game

Mexican singer Majo Aguilar and Oakland-born singer-songwriter MXKA will perform the national anthems before the NFL’s return to Mexico City in November, the league announced Wednesday.

Aguilar will perform Mexico’s national anthem, while MXKA will sing the U.S. national anthem before the Minnesota Vikings face the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 22 at Estadio Banorte. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. Central Time.

The performances will be part of the pregame entertainment surrounding the NFL’s return to Mexico City as the league continues an expanded international schedule in 2026.

Aguilar, a three-time Latin Grammy nominee, is known for combining traditional mariachi with contemporary influences. She has twice won Premio Lo Nuestro’s Mexican Music — Female Artist of the Year award and has performed at venues and events including Mexico City’s Zócalo and Teatro Metropólitan.

Aguilar said performing the anthem will allow her to represent Mexico on an international stage.

“I feel very happy to be able to perform the Mexican National Anthem,” Aguilar said in a statement released by the NFL. “Mexico is a beautiful country with a rich culture.”

MXKA, pronounced “MOH-kah,” was born in Oakland, California, to a mother from Mexico City and a father from Louisiana. She describes her music as “R&B Tumbados,” blending contemporary R&B with Mexican music.

The bilingual singer-songwriter has received attention for her single “La Vuelta” and has previously performed the U.S. national anthem as part of Telemundo’s FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage.

MXKA said the Mexico City appearance connects her family background with her Bay Area roots.

“I was born in Oakland, my mom is from CDMX, and as a Blaxicana artist, I’m proud to carry both my Black and Mexican roots onto a stage this big,” she said.

The NFL previously announced that Mexican rock band The Warning will headline the game’s halftime show. The performance is part of a series of halftime shows planned for the league’s 2026 international games.

Tim Tubito, the NFL’s senior director of event and game presentation, said Aguilar and MXKA were selected in part because of their connections to Mexico.

The Mexican and U.S. national anthems and the halftime show are scheduled to be televised live in Mexico on TelevisaUnivision’s Channel 5 and ESPN.

The Vikings-49ers matchup is the final game on the NFL’s 2026 international schedule, which includes games in Australia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany and Mexico.

The league began its international schedule Sept. 10 with the 49ers defeating the Los Angeles Rams 27-7 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. Other games are scheduled for Rio de Janeiro, London, Paris, Madrid and Munich before the international series concludes in Mexico City.

The NFL said 62 regular-season games have been played outside the United States, with cities including London, Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Madrid, Dublin, São Paulo, Mexico City and Toronto having hosted games.
