The Imperial County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting on Thursday, March 26, at 6 p.m. to provide an informational presentation on the proposed Imperial Data Center Project. The meeting will be held in the County Administration Building Board Chambers, 940 W. Main Street, El Centro, with overflow seating available at the County Public Health Training Center, 935 Broadway. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and standing room will be limited to space along walls, with aisles and walkways required to remain clear.
The session will be recorded and available for virtual viewing, allowing residents who cannot attend in person to follow the presentations and discussions. The meeting will include a call to order, invocation, pledge of allegiance, presentations from County staff and the project applicant, a public comment period, and Board discussion.
Unlike public hearings, this special meeting is informational only, and the Board will not take any action on the project during the session. Public comments will be restricted to the Imperial Data Center Project and will occur after the informational presentations. Each speaker is allotted up to three minutes, and the total public comment period has been extended to one hour to allow as many community members as possible to share their views. The Chair may direct County staff, specialists, or the project applicant to respond to questions raised during public comment, with all responses required to be brief and directly address the question posed. Comments on topics already discussed are encouraged to be concise so additional perspectives can be heard. Responses by staff or the applicant will not count toward the public comment time.
To maintain a safe and orderly environment, attendees are asked to follow guidelines regarding media, signage, and conduct. Handheld cameras and recording devices may be used as long as they do not block others’ views, while cameras on tripods must be placed in designated areas. Walkways must remain clear, and disorderly conduct, including the use of obscene language or personal attacks, will not be tolerated. Individuals engaging in disruptive behavior may be asked to leave.
Community members interested in the Imperial Data Center Project are encouraged to attend in person, participate virtually, or submit questions, comments, or recommendations through the County’s website at www.imperialcounty.org/dc-comments.
