IID Customers to Receive Additional Credit from Energy Cost Savings

Imperial Irrigation District customers will receive an additional credit of 6.5 cents per kilowatt-hour for electricity used in August, the district announced Monday.
The credit, about 29% of IID’s current residential energy rate of 22.30 cents per kilowatt-hour, will automatically appear on customers’ September electric bills.
IID said the credit is being funded by savings from lower-than-anticipated fuel and purchased power costs.
“As a community-owned public utility, we believe our customers should directly benefit when we can reduce our energy costs,” IID Board Chairwoman Karin Eugenio said in a statement.
The amount credited will vary depending on each customer’s August electricity usage. Customers enrolled in IID’s Shift & Save time-of-use program will receive the same 6.5-cent-per-kilowatt-hour credit.
Customers do not need to take any action to receive the credit.
IID said the credit is part of its efforts to manage energy costs while maintaining reliability and returning savings to customers when lower energy costs make them available.
