The Imperial County Department of Child Support Services will recognize August as Child Support Awareness Month with a series of community outreach events designed to provide information and assistance to families throughout the county.

This year’s awareness campaign, themed “Parenting can be complicated. Support can be simpler,” highlights efforts to improve access to child support services and make information easier for parents and guardians to obtain.

As part of the observance, the department will host “Child Support on Wheels,” a series of outreach events where staff will answer questions about child support cases, provide general information about available services, and assist members of the public. No appointments are required.

The outreach schedule includes events at Camarena Memorial Library, 850 Encinas Ave. in Calexico, on Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; Holtville City Library, 101 E. Sixth St. in Holtville, on Aug. 18 and 25 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; the Imperial County Probation Department Day Reporting Center at the Iran Martinez Probation Services Building, 324 Applestille Road in El Centro, on Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 8 to 11 a.m.; and the Consulate of Mexico in Calexico, 408 Heber Ave., on Aug. 14 and 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The department encourages parents, guardians and community members to attend the events to learn about available child support services and receive assistance in their communities.

For more information, contact the Imperial County Department of Child Support Services at (866) 901-3212 or visit its office at 2795 S. Fourth St. in El Centro.
