California Mid-Winter Fair Announces 2027 Theme and Return to Traditional Nine-Day Format

The California Mid-Winter Fair will return March 5-14, 2027, with the theme “California Dreamin’” as organizers prepare for a nine-day celebration of entertainment, agriculture, community traditions and family activities at the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds.

The 2027 fair will return to its traditional format after two years of experimenting with a schedule that spread the event across three weekends. The Fair Board determined that returning to the previous format would be a more economical approach and better support fair programs, vendors, and overall operations.

The event will run for nine days, with the fair closed on Monday during the scheduled dates. Organizers said the traditional format is designed to provide visitors with a full lineup of activities while maintaining the longstanding structure of the annual Imperial Valley event.

Visitors to the 2027 California Mid-Winter Fair can expect a variety of attractions, including a carnival featuring rides and games, live concerts and entertainment, livestock competitions showcasing local youth and agricultural programs, and still exhibits featuring art, crafts, baking, photography and other creative displays.

The fair will also include high-energy racing events, traditional fair food and treats, and activities designed for visitors of all ages.

The theme “California Dreamin’” will highlight the state’s diversity, natural beauty and opportunities while celebrating the traditions that have made the fair a regional gathering place. From the excitement of the midway to the agricultural showcases that highlight Imperial Valley’s farming heritage, organizers said the 2027 event will offer a mix of entertainment, education and community experiences.
