Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda is encouraging students across the state to participate in community-focused initiatives through the second generation of the Red Juvenil BC for the 2030 Agenda, a program designed to engage young people in projects promoting social inclusion, economic well-being, and sustainability.
The initiative, coordinated by the State Planning Committee (COPLADE), aims to introduce youth to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and provide tools to apply them within their communities. Students from secondary schools, high schools, and universities are eligible to participate.
“In Baja California, youth have the energy, creativity, and conviction needed to transform their communities and influence public policy with a forward-looking vision,” Governor Ávila Olmeda said. “We want them to join this network, share their ideas, develop projects, and strengthen their leadership skills.”
Participants between 12 and 29 years old will undergo a selection process. Those chosen will receive training on the SDGs, their relevance to Baja California, and how to implement practical solutions in their communities.
COPLADE Director Brígida Fernández Rubio emphasized that the program includes activities focused on training, outreach, and project development. Participants will work on topics such as social inclusion, economic well-being, environmental care, and community strengthening, bringing the Agenda 2030 closer to the local population.
The program includes collaboration with major educational institutions such as Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, CETYS Universidad, Universidad Tecnológica de Tijuana, Universidad Politécnica de Baja California, Grupo Educativo 16 de Septiembre, CICESE, Universidad Iberoamericana Tijuana, and Escuela Secundaria General No. 14 de Mexicali.
Registration is open through April 17. Selected participants will be announced on April 20. Interested students can request information via email at coplade@baja.gob.mx or jjrodriguez@baja.gob.mx, by phone at (686) 333-01-31, or through WhatsApp at (686) 140-71-93. Additional program details are available on COPLADE BC’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
The program aims to empower youth to take an active role in building inclusive and sustainable communities while fostering leadership and civic engagement across Baja California.
