The Yuma Rotary Club will host its 68th annual Walt Kammann Sausage Fry on Dec. 4 at the Yuma Civic Center, continuing a community tradition that raises funds for scholarships benefiting local high school students.

The event, scheduled from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., will feature a traditional sausage dinner, holiday shopping, bingo, a sausage eating contest, and other activities.

Dinner tickets cost $18 and include sausage, beans, coleslaw, a dinner roll, and a choice of water, iced tea, or lemonade. Tickets are available through Yuma Rotary Club members, online at www.YumaRotary.org, or at the door.

Organizers said this year’s event will introduce additional activities, including a Holiday Vendor Market featuring local businesses and artisans. Attendees can also participate in five bingo games for $25, a sausage eating contest, and a 50/50 raffle. A cash bar will be available.

Yuma Rotary President Jennifer Reichelt said the event has been a longstanding part of the community’s holiday traditions.

“I grew up going to the Sausage Fry, so this event has always been a special part of the holiday season for me,” Reichelt said. “I love that generations of Yumans have enjoyed this tradition, and I’m excited to help carry it forward while introducing some new activities for families and friends to enjoy.”

Reichelt said proceeds from the event will support the club’s scholarship program for local students.

First held in 1958, the Walt Kammann Sausage Fry has brought together generations of Yuma residents through volunteer participation and community fundraising.

Jeff Kammann, a Yuma Rotary Club member, said the event continues to hold significance for his family and the community.

“The Sausage Fry has been part of our family’s history and the Yuma community for generations,” Kammann said. “It means a lot to our family to see this tradition continue after 68 years.”

The club is also offering VIP tables for $750, which include reserved seating for 10 guests, dinner and drink tickets, bingo cards, and recognition during the event. Reservations can be made through the club’s website.

Local businesses and artisans interested in participating in the Holiday Vendor Market can reserve booths for $100, with electricity available for an additional $50. Applications are available at bit.ly/SausageFryVendor.

The Yuma Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a global service organization. The local club supports educational scholarships, youth leadership programs, and community service initiatives through fundraising and volunteer activities.
