Mexicali, Baja California – At 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time this morning, the AgroBaja Board of Trustees held its traditional press conference in Mexicali, announcing that from March 5 to 8, 2026, Expo AgroBaja will commemorate its 25th anniversary, firmly established as the leading agrifood platform in northern Mexico.

Over four days, the Exhibition Grounds, located at kilometer 7.5 on the Mexicali–San Felipe highway, will bring together producers, companies, academic institutions, and national and international buyers in a dynamic setting designed to strengthen competitiveness, foster innovation, and expand commercial partnerships across the agrifood sector.

Organized by the AgroBaja Board of Trustees (Patronato AgroBaja A.C.), this milestone edition represents not only a quarter century of history, but also the evolution of an expo that has consistently adapted to the productive, technological, and commercial challenges facing Mexican agriculture. As part of the anniversary celebration, the Board will honor exhibitors who have supported the event’s growth over the past 25 years, as well as former presidents whose leadership helped position the Expo as a national benchmark.

Strategic Pavilions and Sector Specialization

Expo AgroBaja 2026 will feature specialized pavilions showcasing the diversity and strength of the regional agrifood ecosystem. These include the SADER Baja California Pavilion, the Economy and Innovation Pavilion, the CANACO Entrepreneurs Pavilion, the Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Area, the Tijuana City Hall Pavilion, the UABC Pavilion, and the Agricultural Inputs and Services Suppliers Pavilion.

Together, these spaces promote direct engagement among producers, technology providers, academic institutions, and government authorities—creating synergies that advance agricultural modernization. The participation of universities and research centers further underscores the Expo’s emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and value-added production.

Business Center: Direct Access to Major Retail Chains

A cornerstone of the Expo is its Business and Conference Center, designed as a strategic meeting point between producers and leading national and international retail chains. Confirmed buyers for this edition include Walmart, Oxxo, 7-Eleven, Calimax, Circle K, DAX, Red Apple, and Suprema Foods of California, a U.S.-based company, among others.

Producers growing berries, broccoli, zucchini, onions, chili peppers, Brussels sprouts, dates, strawberries, lettuce, lemons, mangoes, melons, oranges, potatoes, cucumbers, pineapples, watermelons, tomatoes, tomatillos, grapefruit, and bunch vegetables are invited to participate. The objective is clear: to create tangible business opportunities and facilitate the entry of regional products into high-volume markets.

Insight and Forward-Thinking Dialogue

The 2026 conference program will address critical economic, technological, and environmental trends shaping the industry. Among the featured sessions is “Stress Tests in 2026: Democracy, Technology, and Economy,” presented by Rodrigo Pacheco, analyst at MONEX, who will examine the macroeconomic challenges affecting the productive sector.

Dr. Francisco Roberto Pérez Martínez of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) will present “Regenerative Wheat: Agronomic Innovation for Sustainable Production,” highlighting practices that balance productivity with soil conservation.

Additional discussions will explore the potential risks of proposed reforms to the National Water Law and issues of fiscal certainty, as well as the transition “From Sustainable to Regenerative” in the integration of livestock, forestry, and agriculture, in coordination with the Regional Livestock Union of Baja California.

Producer Incentives and Livestock Tradition

As part of the special programming, a 2026 KIA K3 will be raffled exclusively among agricultural, livestock, fishing, aquaculture, beekeeping, and poultry producers who complete official pre-registration and on-site accreditation. Pre-registration includes a four-day access wristband, three complimentary guest passes, and eligibility for the raffle, which will take place on Sunday, March 8.

The Expo will also uphold its livestock tradition with a Cattle Auction scheduled for Saturday, March 7, at 1:00 p.m. in the Livestock Arena. Organized in coordination with SADER Baja California and the Regional Livestock Union, the auction will feature feeder cattle that meet all current sanitary standards.

Accessibility and Regional Logistics

To encourage broad participation, complimentary transportation routes will be provided for producers traveling from Tecate, Tijuana, Mexicali, Ensenada, and Valle de la Trinidad. Transportation will also be available for out-of-state exhibitors, offering shuttle service from their hotels to the Exhibition Grounds.

The Expo will operate daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with ticket booths open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free for children under five and for individuals with disabilities. Senior citizens presenting a valid INAPAM credential may request complimentary admission at the box office.

Twenty-five years after its founding, Expo AgroBaja not only celebrates its legacy but also reaffirms its role as a strategic platform for agrifood development in northwestern Mexico—bringing together production, innovation, and market access under one roof.
