Restaurants, bars, and other establishments across Mexicali will host special events Oct. 9-13 as part of La Experiencia Mexicali, a five-day program focused on hospitality, food, beverages, and professional education.
Participating establishments include Zhuque, Parlamento, Mandarin, Furosato, and Mexal, among others. The program will begin Oct. 9 with a welcome party at Pasaje Chinesca. Additional activities will be announced through La Experiencia Mexicali’s official social media accounts.
The event is intended to bring together hospitality professionals, students, brands, producers, and the public while highlighting restaurants, bars, and other venues throughout Mexicali.
One of the featured events will be Baja Bar Talent, a bartending competition scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 12 at Foro Dragón. Admission will be free.
Competitors will be tested on technique and creativity through a series of challenges. One will require participants to transform a kitchen waste product into a cocktail, while another will involve developing a drink using dates as an ingredient.
Educational programming will be held Oct. 12-13 at Hotel Araiza, with classes, workshops, conferences, and tastings covering cocktails, distilled spirits, hospitality, customer service, and Baja California wines.
The educational sessions are the only activities in the general program requiring a participation fee.
La Experiencia Mexicali will conclude with a closing party at the Hotel Araiza bar.
Participation from establishments throughout the city is intended to give attendees an opportunity to explore Mexicali’s culinary offerings and hospitality venues while providing a setting for education and professional exchange.
