The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) continues to encourage customers across the Imperial and Coachella Valleys to enroll in its Shift & Save Time-of-Use rate program, which offers customers greater control over their energy use and the potential for long-term savings on their electricity bill.

Through a series of 16 one-on-one community clinics held throughout April and May, IID staff provided customers with personalized assistance, answered questions, and helped them enroll in the program. The outreach effort connected more than 2,200 customers to Shift & Save, representing a 450% increase in customer participation.

The clinics were conducted throughout IID’s service area, including disadvantaged communities, to provide direct access to information and enrollment assistance for customers considering the switch.

“The clinics may have concluded, but the opportunity remains,” said IID Board Chairwoman Karin Eugenio. “We encourage customers to continue exploring Shift & Save and consider enrolling. This program gives customers greater control over their energy usage and the opportunity to reduce their monthly electric bills through simple changes in daily habits.”

IID’s voluntary Shift & Save Time-of-Use rate can help customers save money by reducing electricity use during higher-cost, on-peak hours by shifting more energy use to lower-cost, off-peak hours. Customers may benefit by shifting activities such as doing laundry, using the dishwasher, charging electric vehicles, and running other major appliances to off-peak hours.

Customers who enroll in Shift & Save may be eligible to receive a $250 IID Mastercard incentive or an equivalent energy bill credit while supplies last. IID reminds customers that incentive quantities are limited and encourages interested customers to apply soon.

“While enrollment incentives provide an added benefit, the true value of Shift & Save is the opportunity for ongoing savings month after month,” said Eugenio. “Small changes when energy is used can add up over time, helping customers better manage their household energy costs for years to come. We encourage customers to take advantage of this opportunity and begin building energy-saving habits that can deliver lasting benefits.”

In addition to helping customers manage their energy bills, increased participation in Shift & Save supports the overall reliability of the electric grid by helping to reduce strain on the energy system during periods of high demand, particularly during the summer months.

IID appreciates every customer who attended a clinic, expressed interest, asked questions, enrolled in programs, and partnered with the District in helping build a more energy-efficient future for the Imperial and Coachella Valleys.

Customers interested in enrolling or learning more about Shift & Save can do so by visiting IID Customer Connect, calling the IID Customer Service Center at 1-800-303-7756, or visiting the District’s website at Shift & Save! | Imperial Irrigation District.

Shift & Save is part of IID’s broader effort to provide customers with practical tools to manage energy use, lower costs, and support long-term grid reliability during periods of high demand.
