Imperial Valley College hosted a free community vision board event on Jan. 15 at the El Centro Library, drawing students and residents from across Imperial Valley for an afternoon focused on creativity, reflection, and goal-setting.
The event, titled “THIS WILL BE MY YEAR!”, was held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the library, 1198 N. Imperial Ave. It was open to Imperial Valley College students and the broader community, including families, youth, and individuals interested in personal development, mentorship, and connection.
Participants created personalized vision boards designed to help outline goals for the year ahead. Organizers provided poster boards and supplies, while some attendees brought magazines and materials to customize their projects. Tables were arranged throughout the library space, allowing participants to work independently or collaborate while sharing ideas.
The program also included food, a keynote presentation from college leadership, and opportunities for attendees to interact with college staff. A children’s activity table was set up to accommodate families and make the event accessible to participants of all ages.
The event was sponsored by the A2MEND Program and Student Equity and Achievement at Imperial Valley College. Organizers said the initiative was intended to foster creativity, encourage reflection, and strengthen connections between the college and the community.
In addition to the creative activities, a registration and information table was available for individuals interested in learning more about enrolling at Imperial Valley College. Staff provided details on academic programs, support services, and steps to begin the application process.
Organizers said the event also served as outreach to prospective students, offering an informal setting to explore educational opportunities while participating in a community-centered activity.
