WITH THE INAUGURATION OF EXPRESS LINE 1, A NEW STAGE IN INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORTATION FOR MEXICALI BEGINS: GS

* It’s formally inaugurated after a decade of abandonment.

Mexicali B.C.- The Municipal President of Mexicali accompanied by the President of Municipal DIF, Margarita Flores de Sánchez; celebrated the inauguration of the Express 1 line of the Integrated Transportation System (SIT), which will allow a new stage in the road and technological infrastructure of transportation in the state capital, said Mayor Gustavo Sánchez Vásquez.

He added that this work was consolidated thanks to the coordination between the National Bank of Public Works and Services (Banobras), the 22 City Council of Mexicali, transporters, private sector organizations, the community, and the various government orders.

The mayor of Mexicali said that after a decade of waiting for the desired modernization, from this day, Mexicali Citizens should feel happy because they take a very important step to have the efficient service they deserve and that for many years was ignored and today, it’s a reality.

He pointed out that efficient urban mobility becomes an engine that attracts and drives the local economy, by allowing visitors and locals to have means of transportation that are flexible and affordable.

“Urban mobility is a welfare factor that users require, who is the most important reason, to be taken care of and valued,” said the Mayor.

He thanked the dealers for their collaboration, which shows that together projects of importance to Mexicali can be completed.

He expressed that, to achieve this, many circumstances and wills had to be aligned, including that of the City Council of Mexicali, which put the benefit of the community as a priority; putting aside political dyes to concentrate efforts to resolve a need that for years was neglected.

He also thanked the Federal Government because he always found the disposition of officials who believed in the project.

He stressed that the 22 City Council he heads, is composed of capable men and women; with the commitment to serve and give results, they will continue working until the end of the administration, taking care of even the smallest detail so that the modernization of public transport is strengthened.

“I thank the directors of the 22 City Council involved in the project for their effort and work, as well as the members of the Municipal Transportation Council and business chambers, who put forward the interest of a city and knew how to be at the heights of what Mexicali requires,” he said.

The Director of Public Works, Francisco Reynoso Ambriz; informed that with a length of 18.4 kilometers, the Express Line 1 will include the stretch of López Mateos Boulevard, International Border, Palaco Industrial Corridor, until reaching the Ejido Puebla, having a junction with the Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard.

The official said that the complement of the physical and operational integration of the Express Line 1, had an investment of 125 million pesos with which it was possible to signal 30 cruises, which involved making 35 tunnels, 107 records, installing 83 traffic light posts and cameras to measure vehicle flow.

A sensor system was also installed, 56 camcorders, 531 lights and arrows, 32 thousand linear meters of wiring, state-of-the-art controllers and 23 kilometers of fiber optics, comprising the downtown area to the Ejido Puebla, thinking on leaving the foundations to start the concept of a “Smart City”.

He added that one thousand 278 linear meters of vertical signs were placed, 54 thousand linear meters of horizontal signs, 1,344 symbols, 21 flags of destination flags and 68 whereabouts stations were placed, giving a total of 113 modules in 68 whereabouts.

After the inauguration, the mayor of Mexicali accompanied by Francisco Quiñonez Partida, director of Transportation Projects at Banobras, took a tour in a transport unit by the Express Line 1 corridor.
