With the presence of Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño, along with authorities and representatives from business organizations, the “23rd Expo Tequila Tijuana” kicked off on Friday, October 18, where visitors will find more than 45 tequila producers.

During the opening ceremony, the president of Tijuana’s Tourism and Convention Committee (Cotuco), Dr. Karim Chalita Rodríguez, acknowledged the organizers’ efforts to continue this event, which has become a tradition in the city.

“Every year, we see the quality of this event improve, transcending borders. It is 100% family-friendly, contributes to the city’s image and economy, and promotes our tequila, a truly Mexican beverage,” he said.

In his address, while formally inaugurating the Expo Tequila activities, Mayor Ismael Burgueño emphasized the importance of these events not only as family gathering spaces but also as economic drivers for the city.

“Talking about 23 years means that, as we say here in Tijuana, this has taken off and will continue for 24, 25, even 30 years,” said the mayor, who assured that during his three-year term, the city government would continue supporting such initiatives.

He added that events like this not only strengthen tourism but also create spaces where small businesses and entrepreneurs can grow and engage with the community.

Meanwhile, Expo Tequila Tijuana director Mario Murrieta explained that this 23rd edition would feature a wider variety of tequila, with 45 producers and over 100 labels represented.

“We have seven new tequila makers, and those who have always been with us are bringing new labels of blanco, reposado, and añejo tequilas, as well as evolving presentations,” he noted.

The purpose of the Expo, he clarified, is to promote tequila culture and create a business networking opportunity, as renowned suppliers participate in the event.

Visitors will find diverse food stands and an attractive musical program featuring various artists, including folkloric ballet groups, musical ensembles, mariachis, and soloists, all aiming to create a pleasant atmosphere for attendees.

Additionally, the traditional “Expo Tequila Queen” contest will take place in three stages, concluding on Sunday with the coronation.

Finally, Mario Murrieta extended an invitation to attend the “23rd Expo Tequila Tijuana” on Avenida Revolución, between 8th and 9th Streets, with an admission fee of 150 pesos for adults and free entry for children. For more information, visit the Facebook page: Expo Tequila Tijuana.
