SRE urges to avoid non-essential travel during Easter

Mexico City. – The Government of Mexico reiterates the call to all Mexican people to avoid international travel, to and from Mexico, for non-essential reasons, such as recreation or tourism, particularly during Easter. This, in accordance with the measures to counteract the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the world and in the country. Additionally, the reduction of frequencies in air routes has generated enormous complications in the logistics of international flights.

The Ministry of Foreign Relations encourages compatriots residing abroad permanently to stay at home and avoid international travel. In this sense, an emphatic call is again made to the Mexican community in the United States that traditionally travels to Mexico during Easter, to postpone visits to the country. The containment measures that have recently been established in both countries have reduced air connectivity and limited non-essential travel at the land border.

The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Foreign Relations, reiterates its commitment to provide all the consular assistance and protection available to Mexicans abroad. However, it is reiterated that, given the current conditions, the return of Mexican citizens to the national territory is extremely complicated, so it is essential to avoid non-essential trips abroad
