SECRETARY GENERAL OF GOVERNMENT RECEIVES AMBASSADOR OF HAITI IN MEXICO, GUY LAMOTHE

  • Lead a follow-up meeting to the actions coordinated by the three levels of government, in support of the Haitian community in Baja California

On behalf of the Governor of the State, Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, the Secretary General of Government, Francisco Rueda Gómez, led the follow-up meeting of the three levels of government, to coordinated actions in support of the Haitian community, where the Ambassador of Haiti in Mexico, Guy Lamothe, participated.

In this follow-up meeting held in offices of the State Government, an overview of the situation of the more than 3,000 Afro-descendant migrants of Haitian origin, who settled in Baja California, was presented, said the Secretary General of the Government.

Rueda Gómez stressed that the Government of Baja California has allocated more than 40 million pesos in support to shelters that served the migratory situation, and has been respectful and has worked to safeguard the integrity and dignity of these people who came to Baja California since 2016.

He mentioned that the State Administration headed by Governor Francisco Vega, in coordination with the Federal Government and the City Councils, has been granting all the facilities for them to be regularized and be able to integrate into the Baja California society like any other migrant that arrives to our State.

The Ambassador, for his part, reiterated his willingness to continue working with the State Administration, as well as with the federal and municipal authorities in everything related to the support and monitoring of the situation in which the Haitian community based in Baja California is located.
