“Seat Law” Creates Opportunities for Regional Suppliers

-Editorial

With the implementation of the so-called “Seat Law” in Mexico, regional furniture suppliers have found a valuable market niche within the maquiladora industry.

This was highlighted by Diva Gutiérrez, Commercial Director of BIZ M Conceptos, a company that supplies ergonomic office furniture to the maquiladora industry, as well as the commercial, corporate, and healthcare sectors.

“Baja California is a region with great potential due to the large number of industries here, where the law is already approved, requiring specific ergonomic standards,” she noted.

The Ley Silla is an initiative aimed at ensuring workers can rest and are not required to stand throughout their shifts, mandating that companies provide chairs with backrests for their employees.

Additionally, employers must allow workers to sit during their shifts and provide regular breaks, aiming to prevent health risks associated with standing for long periods, such as vein inflammation, muscle strain, fatigue, and damage to tendons and ligaments.

“The goal is for operators to work seated, so the type of furniture will depend on the industry. For example, in the medical industry, chairs must be specific for cleanrooms, like those made of polyurethane or vinyl,” added Diva Gutiérrez.

She mentioned that BIZ M Conceptos offers a wide range of furniture suitable for corporations, hospitals, laboratories, clinics, offices, and many other establishments.

“It’s important for us that our clients comply with regulations, so we invite them to see the latest market options. We can also bring samples directly to companies so that workers can experience ergonomic quality right in their workspace,” she concluded.
