The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce marked its 154th anniversary with a gathering of nearly 900 executives, elected officials, and industry leaders. The event, held as part of the Chamber’s Anniversary Celebration, highlighted the organization’s role in advocating for business growth and regional economic development.
Jessica Anderson, Interim President and CEO, emphasized the Chamber’s longstanding commitment to supporting businesses and fostering economic progress.
“The Chamber has long been the leading voice for the San Diego region’s business community, championing policies and initiatives that help businesses grow and drive San Diego forward,” Anderson said. “As we embark on this next chapter, we remain steadfast in our commitment to advocating for businesses, fostering meaningful connections, and providing the essential resources needed for success.”
During the event, the Chamber introduced its 2025 Board of Directors and formally transitioned leadership to its new Board Chair, Chris Howard, President and CEO of Sharp HealthCare. Howard outlined his vision for the year ahead, emphasizing collaboration between the business community, government, and civic organizations.
“The Chamber has an ambitious 2025 agenda, a membership of engaged and passionate business leaders, and effective partners in the community and government,” Howard said. “Together, we will continue the Chamber’s strong tradition of getting things done for San Diego.”
As part of the celebration, the Chamber presented two awards recognizing significant contributions to the region. The Herb Klein Spirit of San Diego Award was given to Jerry Sanders, retired Chamber President and CEO, former San Diego Mayor, and former San Diego Police Chief, in recognition of his leadership and service. The Moving San Diego Forward Award was presented to San Diego FC for its contributions to the regional economy and community development.
