As summer fades, community colleges across San Diego and Imperial Counties (SDICCCA) are gearing up to welcome students for the Fall 2024 semester. With new programs and initiatives on the horizon, these institutions are set to provide exceptional educational opportunities at an affordable price.

Cuyamaca College will inaugurate its Black Student Success Center, designed to provide dedicated support and resources for Black and African American students. Additionally, the college is expanding services to address homelessness through a partnership with Home-Start of El Cajon and has secured a regional grant for electric vehicle mechanic training in its Automotive Technology program. The semester starts on August 19, 2024.
Grossmont College introduces an accelerated training program in collaboration with Quality Controlled Manufacturing, focusing on CNC machining, Six Sigma, and safety training. The First Year Experience program also anticipates record enrollment, offering comprehensive support to new students. Classes commence on August 19, 2024.
Imperial Valley College is launching a one-year certificate program for chemical lab technicians under its LIFT the Valley initiative, which supports the Lithium Valley project. The college will also offer eight-week accelerated programs in fields such as Administration of Justice, Psychology, Business Administration, and Elementary Teaching Education. The semester begins on August 12, 2024.
MiraCosta College will debut an Associate of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to meet the growing demand for AI professionals. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Teresia M. Heyden Hall for Nursing & Allied Health, a state-of-the-art facility, will be held on August 21. The fall semester starts on August 19, 2024.
Palomar College is offering over 650 online courses through the California Virtual College (CVC) Course Exchange, allowing students to expedite their programs. The college also provides extensive dual enrollment opportunities for high school students and credit for prior learning. Classes start on August 26, 2024.
San Diego City College introduces a four-year baccalaureate program in cyber defense and analysis to address industry needs. The semester starts on August 19, 2024.
San Diego College of Continuing Education partners with Sacramento State University’s Black Honors College to offer new certificates in its Clothing and Textile Arts program. The semester begins on September 3, 2024.
San Diego Mesa College celebrates its 60th anniversary with the opening of a new MESA Center and a series of events. Classes start on August 19, 2024.
San Diego Miramar College is expanding its intercollegiate sports programs with the addition of new men’s and women’s swimming teams. The fall semester begins on August 19, 2024.
Southwestern College launches the “Men of Color Learning Community” and opens a new state-of-the-art Botanical Garden, continuing to enhance its academic offerings and support services. The semester starts on August 26, 2024.
