To strengthen the cross-border union through the region’s rich wine and culinary offerings, the Comité Provino Baja California will host the third edition of the “Festival Vino sin Fronteras” in Tijuana. This highly anticipated event will take place on Saturday, October 5, at the Club Campestre Tijuana, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, September 11, a press conference was held at the COTUCO Tijuana boardroom to reveal details of the festival. Attendees included representatives from Provino Baja California as well as significant partners such as Dr. Karim Chalita Rodríguez, President of COTUCO Tijuana, Zaida López Sánchez, President of CANIRAC Tijuana, Martha Domínguez, President of the Northwest Hotels Association, and Sergio Egozcue Ayala, Director of Tourist Products at the Baja California Tourism Secretariat.
Albert Cruz, Coordinator of the Festival on behalf of Provino BC, emphasized the event’s main goal: “The primary objective of the event is to continue promoting wine culture to the public on both sides of the border. It also serves as an essential platform to promote wine tourism among national visitors and Southern California enthusiasts, as well as to connect with media and business organizations from the metropolitan area and San Diego, California.”
This year, the 3rd Vino sin Fronteras Festival will change venues to the Club Campestre Tijuana, providing a more serene, tree-lined environment for attendees to fully enjoy the wine and food experience. The festival will showcase the best of the Valle de Guadalupe and other Baja California wine regions, bringing together over 40 wineries to offer tastings and sales of 100 wine labels. Varieties will include white, rosé, red, and sparkling wines.
Moreover, to strengthen ties with wine regions outside of Mexico, Provino will feature Temecula, California, as the guest wine region. Renowned wineries such as South Coast Winery, Akash Winery, and Falkner Winery will present their wine selections, enriching the event’s offerings.
Thanks to a partnership with the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) of Tijuana, the festival will also host 25 participating restaurants from Tijuana, Ensenada, Valle de Guadalupe, Tecate, and Rosarito. These restaurants, all members of CANIRAC, will provide attendees with a wide variety of gastronomic samples, with some establishments also offering full plates for sale. This collaboration is further supported by key food suppliers like Distribuidora La Canasta.
To enhance the experience, the event will feature a dynamic educational program that includes live cooking demonstrations by some of the region’s top chefs and restaurants. These demonstrations will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with dishes paired perfectly with wines from Baja California. On the entertainment side, DJ Winstone will provide fresh, contemporary electronic sounds, while Grupo Melody will have everyone dancing to a vibrant mix of Latin rhythms and hit songs.
Tickets for the event are priced at MXN 1,500 per person, which includes a commemorative wine glass and unlimited tastings of both food and wine (while supplies last). Attendees are encouraged to arrive on time to fully enjoy the food and wine tastings, culinary demonstrations, and musical performances. The festival also has a charitable aspect, as part of the proceeds will go toward projects that benefit the wine regions of Baja California, such as the reconstruction of the San Vicente Park in the Valle de San Vicente, located south of Ensenada on the historical Wine Route.
Tickets for the 3rd Vino sin Fronteras Festival can be purchased at select Farmacias Roma locations in Rosarito, Tijuana, Mexicali, and Ensenada, as well as online through the Provino website at: https://provinobc.mx/.
