The Wine Harvest Festivals represent an icon in Baja California and being the Baja California Provincial Committee an organization that represents 84 wineries in the region, these festivities are a key moment for the sector, since for 33 years they have symbolized the opportunity to celebrate in the community, show the benefits of the terroir, promote the culture of wine and promote the trade.
The state of Baja California is a benchmark for national viticulture, it is responsible for 70% of the wine production in Mexico and the Wine Harvest Festival contributes significantly to the projection of the destination, showing a tourist influx of around 120 thousand visitors and an economic flow of more than 800 million pesos permeating the entire value chain.
This thirty-third edition of the Wine Harvest Festival will take place from July 29 to August 26 and will bring together the most important wineries in the region, bringing the public closer to viticulture in more than 30 different activities such as pairing dinners, wine tours, and special tastings, among other experiences in participating wineries.
Each year a guiding theme is represented, this being 2023 “Climate Change”. Measures must be taken to adapt its effects, such as the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, the implementation of more efficient irrigation technologies, and the promotion of water conservation policies. Only through joint action at the local, regional, and international levels will it be possible to protect and preserve the wine-producing valleys of Baja California and guarantee their importance for future generations.
