In the closing of the 22th City Council of Mexicali’s activities, the municipal president, Gustavo Sánchez Vázquez, inaugurated the new police sub-station, located on Calle Novena, in the northeast area of the city, as an important command and monitoring center that will complement public safety and surveillance work currently being carried out in Mexicali, capital of Baja California.
At the event, the current Chief of the Municipal Police, Alejandro Monreal Noriega, and his predecessor, Alonso Ulises Méndez, who initiated and handled the progress of this project were present. In addition to the City Council members, and former city mayors, such as Architect Víctor Hermosillo, Rodolfo Valdez Gutiérrez, and Eugenio Elorduy Walter.
The head of the City Police (DSPM), highlighted the efforts of the current city council, as well as the private initiative who participated in the construction of this avant-garde property, which will cover more than 1600 m2, and will be located less than 1 km away from the East Port of Entry on Calz. Abelardo L. Rodríguez, in the extension of Novena Street.
This new station will be part of an Integral Safety Center that it will feature modern facilities for traffic ticket services, an intelligence center to monitor streets and avenues in the western area of Mexicali, as well as professional care for victims of domestic violence, courtroom, and oral trials. The station will be linked to the almost 400 cameras located in different parts of the city, in coordination with the State Preventive Police.
Finally, the City Mayor of Mexicali stressed that this project was something that the city urgently needed, given the growth it has had in the last 22 years, since the inauguration of the police station located on Calz. Anahuac in the southern zone. He declared that with this kind of public works, the commitment of his administration is evident, regarding the safety of Mexicali citizens, during his three years at the head of the municipal government.
