NAF El Centro launches the Imperial Valley holiday parade season this Friday with its annual Holiday Parade of Lights beginning at 7 pm on the installation.
The Navy base invites all of its Imperial Valley friends and neighbors to join the Sailors and their families on the installation for this seasonal kick off which has nearly twenty-five floats and marching groups scheduled to move down the base. In addition to local school marching bands, a classic car club, civic agencies, local businesses, and the world-famous 501st Star Wars costuming group, KXO Radio’s own Gene Brister returns as the parade’s premier announcer.
The parade still has room for more entries. If interested in being a part of this joyous event, please contact Ms. Candyce Zavala at 760-339-2482 or Candyce.r.zavala.naf@us.navy.mil.
Gates open to the public at 6 pm and families are encouraged to bring their own chairs to watch the parade in comfort. Food and beverages will be available for sale, credit or debit cards only, please.
Due to Navy-wide security protocols, all drivers must be prepared to show their driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance at the front gate. Additionally, all adult passengers should be ready to present their state-issued identification or passport.
Furthermore, all vehicles and visitors attending the 2022 Parade of Lights are subject to searches at any time during their visit. Declining a search of vehicles or persons will result in denial of base access.
Parade participants may enter the base as early as 5:30 pm and must have the same credentials ready to display as the general public.
The mission of NAF El Centro is to support the combat training and readiness of the warfighter. This includes air operations support to operational fleet and training squadrons as well as squadrons from other services (Marine Corps, Army, Air Force) and international military partners.
