Nation Verde Urges Recycling of Natural Christmas Trees

-Editorial

With the aim of promoting greater environmental awareness, the association Nation Verde is encouraging Tijuana residents to take their natural Christmas trees to the collection service provided by the City Council. In return, participants could receive discounts on the purchase of plants and mulch bags.

This initiative was announced by Octavio López, director of Nation Verde, who explained that the goal is to foster a circular economy that prevents wooden waste from ending up in landfills or public spaces.

“These types of materials can be transformed into mulch, a substance that helps retain moisture while enriching the soil with nutrients and preventing landslides,” he noted.

The director emphasized that the purpose is to raise ecological awareness among citizens so they avoid discarding their natural Christmas trees on streets or slopes, as they can be reused.

“The message to Tijuana residents is to bring their trees to the municipal collection service. If they send us a photo of the drop-off through our social media, we will give them a 10% discount on plants or mulch bags,” he added.

This promotion, according to Octavio López, is offered by the brand Mucho Mulch, which provides this material consisting of a loose organic layer made from shredded wood.

“It’s a material with great properties and benefits for gardens, green areas, and open spaces. An important feature of Mucho Mulch is that it saves water and maintenance costs. We’ve seen this at Parque Esperanto, where it reduces the effort needed to control weeds, regulates temperature, and improves the soil’s quality and durability,” he explained.

Finally, the director of Nation Verde highlighted that the promotion will be available as long as Tijuana’s Christmas tree collection program remains active, from January 8 to February 8. For more information, visit the social media accounts of @NaciónVerdeMX.
