The Tijuana-San Diego Megaregion, a melting pot of cultural, social, and economic diversity, shone once again with the recognition of 18 outstanding leaders who have contributed to the development and progress of both border cities. As part of the 14th Mujer Actual Forum, organized by Mujer Actual Magazine, these pioneers were honored for their invaluable work, highlighting the importance of collaboration between these two regions which, although separated by a border, share a common vision of prosperity.
The event, hosted by Saida Muriel Hid, founder and director of Mujer Actual Magazine, took place at the sleek and modern Vía Corporativo in Tijuana. Spanning 12 uninterrupted hours, the forum served as a dynamic platform for dialogue, reflection, and the celebration of individuals who have made a significant impact in the region.
Under the theme “Latitud Norte: Leaders of the Tijuana-San Diego Megaregion,” this edition of the forum focused on highlighting the richness that these two border cities bring not only to Mexico and the United States but to the entire world. In her opening remarks, Saida Muriel emphasized the importance of this event as a platform to recognize the impact of leaders who have tirelessly worked for the social, economic, and cultural well-being of the region.
“This forum commemorates the role of the leaders and key players who have contributed to the prosperous development of this region, providing a space to reflect and discuss the challenges and opportunities that Tijuana and San Diego face,” said Muriel, underlining the importance of binational cooperation in times of globalization and shared challenges.
The highlight of the forum was the presentation of awards to 18 leaders who, with passion and dedication, have transformed their fields of action. Each one, from various sectors, has left an indelible mark on the Megaregion.
Among the honorees were key figures such as Alejandro Bustamante, President of Plantronics Mexico, a pillar in the technology industry; Irma Olachea, a graduate in Political Science, recognized for her commitment to the social and political development of the region; and Nuria García, Doctor of Law, who has excelled in the legal field.
Additionally, Fabiola Gálvez and Daniel Flores of Gente Bonita Magazine were recognized for their contribution to journalism and the promotion of local culture; and Karla Escobar, founder of Mujeres Extraordinarias, for her support of women entrepreneurs in the region.
In the field of social responsibility, Denisse Valle Bibb, interior designer and director of Valle Bibb Fundación A.C., was honored for her philanthropic work, while Maru Riqué de Vargas, of Tijuana Sin Hambre, received recognition for her tireless fight against hunger in the city.

Similarly, business leaders such as Lorenia Manríquez, founding partner of Nivel Global, and Luis García Manríquez, founding partner of Nivel Estratégico, were recognized for their vision and leadership in the development of cross-border businesses.
During the event, Saida Muriel highlighted the relevance of these recognitions, not only as a tribute to the careers of these leaders but as an inspiration for future generations. “These individuals have not only contributed to the growth of the Tijuana-San Diego Megaregion, but they also motivate others by example. Their work is a source of inspiration for those seeking to make a positive mark in their environment,” she commented.
