Mexican Government Reports Results of “Northern Border Operation”

The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico has released the latest results of Northern Border Operation, covering actions taken on February 14, 15, and 16, 2025. The operation, which began on February 5, has so far resulted in 522 arrests and the seizure of 489 firearms, 55,820 rounds of ammunition, 2,089 magazines, 883 kilograms of marijuana, 453 kilograms of cocaine, 4,913 kilograms of methamphetamine, four kilograms of heroin, 55 kilograms of fentanyl, 406 vehicles, and 59 properties.

Authorities emphasized that all actions were conducted in strict adherence to the rule of law and with full respect for human rights.

Baja California

Authorities detained seven individuals and seized three firearms, seven magazines, 72 rounds of ammunition, tactical equipment, drug doses, three vehicles, and one property.

In Tijuana, three foreign nationals were arrested, and authorities seized $240,000 in U.S. currency, a handgun, five rounds of ammunition, and 128.5 kilograms of sea cucumber.

Chihuahua

In Ciudad Juárez, a known violent offender linked to a criminal group was arrested, along with the seizure of drugs and cash.

In Chihuahua, another individual was detained, and authorities confiscated eight long guns, 23 magazines, 1,998 rounds of ammunition, marijuana doses, a vehicle, and one property.

Coahuila

In Piedras Negras, two individuals were arrested, and four firearms, six magazines, and a vehicle were seized.

Nuevo León

Authorities confiscated 12 long guns, 96 magazines, 2,093 rounds of ammunition, and three vehicles.

Sinaloa

In Culiacán and Cosalá, authorities dismantled eight methamphetamine production sites, arrested four individuals, and seized 200 kilograms of methamphetamine, 5,910 liters of chemical substances, 162 kilograms of chemical precursors, three organic synthesis reactors, four condensers, and 12 LPG gas tanks. In Ahome, at an airstrip, officials seized three crop-dusting planes, three vehicles, and decommissioned a clandestine landing strip. In Mazatlán and Escuinapa, five doses of cocaine, 35 doses of methamphetamine, and 17 doses of marijuana were confiscated. Additionally, authorities neutralized 21 improvised explosive devices.

Sonora

Authorities arrested eight individuals and confiscated two magazines, 60 rounds of ammunition, seven vehicles, 71 doses of methamphetamine, one dose of marijuana, three properties, and 10 improvised explosive devices. In Oquitoa, two individuals were arrested, and 45 kilograms of fentanyl, 10 kilograms of cocaine, four kilograms of heroin, 500 fentanyl pills, and one vehicle were seized. In Caborca, five individuals were detained, and authorities confiscated seven long guns, 31 magazines, 40 rounds of ammunition, two vehicles, 10 bags of methamphetamine, and three packages of marijuana.

Tamaulipas

In San Fernando, authorities seized four long guns, 58 magazines, 1,309 rounds of ammunition, tactical equipment, and one vehicle. In Matamoros, three individuals were arrested, and officials confiscated a long gun, 115 rounds of ammunition, four magazines, a vehicle, bulletproof vests, and communication equipment.

The government continues to monitor and enforce security measures in northern border states as part of its broader strategy to combat organized crime and illicit activities.
