Mexican Consulate and Calexico School District Sign Agreement

The Consulate of Mexico in Calexico and the Calexico Unified School District signed a memorandum of understanding to offer a “Plaza Comunitaria” in Calexico schools.

In a ceremony held in the school district board room, the Consul of Mexico in Calexico Carlos Flores Vizcarra and Superintendent Maria Ambriz, signed this agreement that officially formalized this project.

The “Plaza Comunitaria” program will provide basic education for adult students interested in obtaining their official certificate issued by the Secretary of Public Education of Mexico.

Plaza Comunitaria are meeting places for young Mexicans and Mexican adults living abroad who have not finished their basic education to acquire and share experiences and learning situations for life and work, and invite adults who have these features to enroll in this new Community / Adult Education Plaza that will soon open in the Calexico Unified School District.

Plaza Comunitaria was created as a formula to combat educational lag by the National Council of Education for Life and Work, which establishes three major program areas: Integration of the national system of education and training of new adults formulas to combat educational lag.
