MANA de Imperial Valley, Heber Elementary School District and the IV MESA (Math Engineering Science Achievement) Program held the 2023 Youth Leadership Conference: The Power in You! at Heber Elementary School on Saturday, March 25th. Over 75 7th and 8th-grade students attended the conference where they experienced a morning full of activities focused on STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math), college readiness, and leadership activities.
Ida Obeso-Martinez, MANA President stated, “MANA de Imperial Valley is thankful to have partnered with the Heber Elementary School District and all the presenters to offer the 2023 Youth Leadership Conference. MANA is focused on developing the leadership skills of our local youth and promoting positive educational opportunities.
We are especially thankful to all the professionals that took the time to share their lived experience with attending students, to IV MESA, CAL-SOAP, Joshua Lopez, AmeriCorps, and the staff at Heber Elementary School.”
Participating students were offered breakfast and lunch, heard motivational speaker Joshua Lopez and attended workshops on leadership, college readiness, and STEM activities.
