IVC Celebrates Mental Health Awareness Month

-Editorial

On Thursday, April 20th Imperial Valley College (IVC) Nursing and Allied Health Programs in collaboration with San Diego & Imperial Community College Regional Consortium held their first Annual VIP Luncheon for Healthcare Professionals.

The event was hosted by the Associate Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Programs, Dr. Ortiz, and took place on campus in the Health Sciences Auditorium. In attendance were over 30 Leadership representatives from several healthcare facilities from Imperial and San Diego Counties.

This Luncheon was an opportunity to: showcase IVC Programs and their successes; thank our current partners and look to strengthen/expand those relationships; and build new collaborative partnerships. The event was a total success, relationships were strengthened and new opportunities were identified. A highlight of the event was when students were allowed to dialog directly with industry representatives, sharing their student experience including the struggles they encountered associated with finding clinical placement sites and overcoming enrollment challenges as well as their concerns when searching for employment after graduating.

There will be additional events for students.

  • Wellness Workshops for Students: Resiliency & Fitness, Nutrition, and Stress Management (May 23rd, 24th, and 25th @ 1:00 p.m.)
  • Stress-Free Week: Pet therapy and games (May 30th-June 1st from 2:00-4:00 p.m.)
  • COVID-19 Self-test Kits are available for students and employees at the Student Health Center (building #1536)
