José Joaquín Jimenez Arriaga took an oath of office as President of the Maquiladora Association of Mexicali A.C., (INDEX) having the business community, government, and media present. He took oath along with the Board of Directors, which is formed by:
Alfredo García Estrada, Vice President.
Marco Antonio Kuljacha Gastélum, Secretary.
Manuel Euyoqui Pérez, Treasurer.
Marcela Guadarrama Minor, Member.
Guillermo Salcedo Ojeda, Member.
Salvador Maese Barraza, Member.
David Ángeles Anaya, Member.
Iván Lyndon Aceves Urzúa, Member.
The ceremony had the virtual presence of the President of the National Index Luis Manuel Hernández, who expressed; “Congratulations to Joaquín and his board of directors, we will continue to work together and achieve excellent results if we stick together.” Also, he pledged to help advance our sector.
On his part, the President of Index Mexicali José Joaquín Jimenez Arriaga, highlighted that within his work plan is to strengthen the representation of the manufacturing and export maquila sector before the public and private institutions.
As well as, to speak in favor of legality, legal certainty, teamwork, in favor of our members and collaborators. And he emphasized that he will maintain the role as a consulting body, avoiding obstacles that impede the creation and development of the export industry.
The Mayor of Mexicali Marina del Pilar Ávila commented; “The maquiladora industry is undoubtedly one of the sectors that generate the most employment in Mexicali.” She thanked the companies associated with Index Mexicali for the great support provided during the pandemic and added that she will continue to strengthen the alliance between the sector and the government to build a better city.
On the other hand, the Secretary of Sustainable Economy and Tourism of the State Mario Escobedo Carignan expressed; “We are going to work together to be able to achieve the potential that as a State we have to generate jobs and greater investment.”
Also, he mentioned that 2021 is a great year for Baja California because the commercial distance between China and the United States is generating great opportunities to bring part of the manufacturing companies to Mexico.
During the ceremony, a plaque of recognition was awarded to the outgoing president, Ing. Víctor Hugo Delgado Sánchez, delivered by the President of Index Mexicali, Ing. José Joaquín Jimenez Arriaga.
The event took place at the Hotel Araiza Convention Center and was broadcast live on Facebook Live and Zoom.
