INDEX and CDI Join Forces to Strengthen Local Supply Chains in Mexicali

 -Editorial

As part of the implementation of the Demand Identification and Profiling Model for the Maquiladora Industry, INDEX Mexicali and the Industrial Development Council (CDI) have announced a joint effort to strengthen local supply chains.

Salvador Maese Barraza, President of INDEX Mexicali, stated that the initiative includes a detailed diagnostic and mapping of purchasing companies’ needs, alongside an assessment of the technical and productive capacities of local suppliers.

Maese emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration with CDI, whose role includes promoting Mexicali as a hub for investment and business, and attracting and retaining companies that support sustainable industrial development.

The project has also involved close coordination with the Baja California Secretariat of Economy and Innovation from its inception, allowing for a shared, real-time data intelligence process to connect supply with demand.

During a recent meeting attended by CDI Mexicali members, including its President Francisco Pérez Tejada and Director Iván Villanueva, participants highlighted the value of having up-to-date information accessible through a digital platform to support decision-making across the sector.

Maese also underscored the importance of creating conditions for local businesses not only to supply existing industries but to become essential links in regional value chains.

“Our objective is clear: we want a greater share of every export dollar from Baja California to remain in the local economy through regional supply. This will boost innovation, entrepreneurship, and lead to more and better jobs for the people of Baja California,” Maese concluded.
