-Editorial

The Imperial County Transportation Commission is implementing a reduction in service for its fixed-route services. Services affected include Imperial Valley Transit (IVT), IVT Blue Line, IVT Green Line, and IVT Gold Line.

The Saturday IV Transit schedule will now be implemented Monday to Friday. The modifications will be implemented effective Monday, March 30, 2020, until further notice. Please visit www.ivtransit.com to see how the new bus schedule will work.

“Public transit remains a critical lifeline during crisis events, it provides worker access to jobs that support community needs, provides access to essential services and resources like supermarkets, health care, and medical needs. In order to balance the need to protect IVT employees there will be a reduction in our schedule,” the transportation commission said in a press release.

IVT Access paratransit services will operate its regular schedule in accordance with the fixed-route schedule until further notice.

IV Transit encourages all passengers to attempt to create adequate spacing between themselves and other passengers.

The IVT operations facility at 792 E. Ross Road, El Centro, CA. will continue to provide limited access to the public. Facility hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Their dispatching service will still be available Monday – Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 6:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to address any customer service needs.

For IVT please call 760- 482-2900 or visit www.ivtransit.com and IVT Access please call 760-482-2908 or visit www.ivtaccess.org. For the Imperial County Transportation Commission please call 760-592-4494 or visit www.imperialctc.org.

“The protection of our community and employees is a top priority for the Imperial County Transportation Commission and Imperial Valley Transit while providing a critical service we also must stress the importance of using this service only when absolutely necessary and limit unnecessary contact and keeping with the recommended social distancing practices.

We appreciate the public’s support during these difficult times.”
