10 years ago, UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep Khosla committed to increasing UC San Diego’s presence in the Imperial Valley.  Since then, over 200 Imperial Valley students have received scholarships to the UC San Diego Academic Connections Program.  Each year one student from each of the eight public high schools is selected to receive a full scholarship.

This year students are receiving both residential and online scholarships.  In addition, community partnerships have increased scholarship offerings to include Migrant Student Scholarships, Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship, and an Alternative Education Scholarship with the ICOE Education Foundation.

A dinner celebrating the students and their families will be held on May 9th at the ICOE Conference Center from 5:00- 7:00 pm. Representatives from the Education and Community Outreach Department at UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies will be present for the scholarship presentations and to answer questions about UCSD programs. County Superintendent Todd Finnell, Migrant Program Director, Jessica Aceves, and Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Committee Chair, Marlene Thomas, will attend.  High School counselors, teachers, and administrators are also invited to celebrate with the following outstanding students.
